The EA Literacy Service announces the launch of the first edition of its Literacy Newsletter

1st Dec 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian,

We have received this exciting first edition Newsletter from the EA Literacy Service, and we invite you to share this with your child/children at home, if suitable. The content of the newsletter is for parents and children, who at some point in their school career may experience difficulties with literacy.

This issue focuses on spelling with lots of useful, practical ideas and resources to use at home. It also contains details on how the newsletter can be read out loud using assistive technology (Texthelp Read & Write and Immersive Reader) and provides instructions for this. Please copy and paste the link below into the Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browser to view at home and explore this amazing new resource for Northern Ireland pupils, parents and schools.

With this new initiative the Literacy Service would value your feedback via the Survey Monkey at the end of the newsletter. Any contributions of your child’s work showing their super skills, comments and stories may be included in future issues, with your consent.

This is the first edition and our school have been asked by the Literacy Service to run a competition to suggest an original name for this newsletter. If your child has an idea or suggestion for a name, please send it to your school from your child’s c2k email address. All suggestions will be considered and the best sent to the Newsletter Editors. The winning suggestion, the child who made it and the school that the child attends will be part of a feature in the next edition.

We hope you enjoy sharing this new project with your child or young person, should it assist in the development of their literacy ability.

Yours sincerely

Mrs Janet McCann
