Catholic Schools Week 2026 Opening Celebration of the Eucharist #catholicschoolsweek
Today Mrs McCafferty, Mrs Kivlehan and two members of our student council joined schools from across the Derry Diocese to mark the beginning of Catholic Schools Week 2026 at St. Eugene's Cathedral.
The theme this year is ‘Called to Holiness’ which Bishop McKeown spoke about during the mass. The focus was on the impact of the ‘little good’ and how this can make a big difference. Bishop McKeown spoke about Saint Carlos Acutis and how he as a modern day Saint through his interests and his love for Jesus made a difference to the lives of others. We look forward to our week of celebrating what makes our school special, our faith and our school community.
On our way out we met Mr Eamonn Broderick, the Chief Executive of the CCMS- also featured in our pictures. Many thanks to Ms Therese Ferry and the entire Derry Catechetical Centre for such a lovely morning and for the presentation of 'Our Lady of Silence' plaque for our school.
