Good Shepherd Primary School and Nursery School, Derry

🎉Assembly 16/1/26

16th Jan 2026

✨Today our school community gathered for the first assembly of 2026.  Our focus this morning was on the theme for Catholic Schools Week.  The theme this year is 'called to holiness.'  Mrs McCafferty explained that this is all about how we can be the very best we can be.  Making good choices, being a good friend and being kind and thoughtful towards others.   This is how we shine like stars! We listened to Archbishop Martin's message and learnt about Saint Carlos Acutis- the ordinary boy who did extraordinary things with his interests.  We are all looking forward to exploring and recognising what makes our faith and school ethos so special and of course opening our doors on Wednesday so that we can shine bright in our school for our loved ones to see!  Grandparents Day is on Wednesday 21st January 9.30am-11am (any family member/special person can attend if Grandparents are unavailable).

👏Well done and congratulations to our very worthy student of the week winners.  This week we recognised warm and bubbly personalities, great focus on tasks and dedication to helping others learn.  Well done everyone!

🌟We also welcomed several visitors to the school office this week to celebrate their key word successes!  Wonderful!
