A Wonderful Welcome!

6th Nov 2020

Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we come to the end of our first week back at school after our extended Halloween break, I am writing to thank you all for the warm welcome which I have received at Good Shepherd Primary and Nursery School. I have been overwhelmed by the strong sense of community here, and the child-centred provision which the school promotes. The children are so friendly and very well-mannered, which is a real credit to themselves and their families.

My vision for Good Shepherd Primary and Nursery School is to ensure the outstanding provision for each and every child in order for them to reach their full potential. I aim to promote this through a child-centred approach in all that we do. Here at Good Shepherd Primary and Nursery School, our provision focuses on the learning of all our pupils, staff, parents and wider community and, as a Catholic school, we promote faith, high academic achievement and learning for life.

We aim to provide for our pupils, in a happy, stimulating and secure environment, a programme of learning and teaching embracing the Northern Ireland Curriculum that will enable each pupil to attain his or her potential; intellectually, spiritually, morally, socially and physically.

Our Mission Statement is Learn, Believe, Respect, Achieve.

I aim to build on the existing good practice which Mr Irvine and Mrs Harley has lead. I would like to thank the senior leadership team and Board of Governors for their continued guidance as we go through a time of transition in the school. I hope to support the staff and you, our parents and guardians, to ensure the children in our care are given the best opportunities in order for them to be healthy and happy.

I will endeavour to work together with our entire school community, to ensure the very best for our children.  As the primary educators of your child, I will be liaising closely with you the parents/guardians and will ensure that your voice is heard, and that your views will inform future provision.  A comprehensive questionnaire aimed to gather experiences, opinions, celebrate positives and highlight opportunities for improvement will be sent out to you over the next few weeks.

I look forward to working together with you all.  I have included a picture of myself-please say hello if you see me around the school.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs Suzann McCafferty
