**REMINDER

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On Monday we welcomed Mr Steven Ward from Sustrans into the school who held an assembly to highlight all the benefits of active travel choices.  He commended everyone's efforts on 'cycle to school week' when the weather was not so pleasant!

He shared with us a great idea to have some fun and raise awareness of the benefits of active travel choices and is encouraging our children to participate in 'Ditch the Dark' day to be held on Thursday 27th October.

The theme of the day is to ‘Ditch the Dark'. To raise awareness of safe travel to school during the darker days, we are encouraging children to actively travel (Walk, scoot or cycle) to school wearing the brightest clothing they can!

Children are invited to get creative with their outfits to be super bright. The possibilities are endless – bright clothing, glow sticks, fluorescent orange socks, a pink tutu, a neon green wig!

You are more than welcome to join the fun yourself! Please feel free to dress to impress in your best neon bright clothing and travel to school actively with your child on the day!

We understand that it might not be possible for everyone to actively travel to school the whole way, particularly if you live far away. In this case we’d encourage you to park up somewhere convenient and walk the final bit to school with your child. In doing so we hope we’ll reduce the number of cars around school and have lots of active kids on the day!

If you allow your child to travel by bike/scooter we highly recommend the wearing of a helmet and ask that you check that clothing/decoration doesn’t interfere with the mechanisms (brakes, wheels etc). We hope that you enjoy taking part and getting active on the school run!

Thank you for your continued support of the school.

Regards,

Mrs S. McCafferty
